For my second birth I knew I wanted a different experience so I decided to get a doula.
I wasn’t sure how a doula might help but I knew I wanted more of a voice with the hospital staff, for my husband to feel helpful in the process and a stress free delivery.
From the moment we met Stephanie, we knew she was the one to help us accomplish all of these and more. Stephanie met with us in our home to go over our wishes for the delivery, offered experienced advice for certain situations she had encountered and tips for helping my husband and me during labor.
We stayed in touch after each of my doctors appointments and she offered suggestions for questions to ask my doctor to ensure we were all on the same page. Even with this being my second birth, I still didn’t know how to articulate the questions I needed to ask my doctor to ensure we were on the same page.
But with Stephanie's help, I was able to feel confident that my doctor knew what I was hoping to achieve. Stephanie's guidance helped my husband and I navigate any decisions we made while at the hospital.
With Stephanie’s help, my husband was able to help with my back labor and make me feel more comfortable in general. Stephanie also took notes throughout the day to help us remember milestones and funny moments along the way. And after our son was born she took pictures of the three of us that we absolutely love.
I can’t imagine another birth without Stephanie by our side and I know we will stay close after such a wonderful experience! Thanks so much Stephanie!!
