Inclusion in Birth Work

What is Inclusion?

The action or state of including or of being included within a group or structure. The practice or policy of providing equal access to opportunity and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those who have physical or intellectual disabilities and members of other minority groups (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/inclusion).

How2Mom's Commitment to Inclusion...

At How2Mom, we are committed to ensuring there is no room for discrimination in the How2Mom community. Regardless of color, sex, sexual preference, origin, religion, marital status, disability, or the type of birth they desire, we welcome all families.

Because inclusion matters in all areas of life, but especially in the birth world, it is important to us to stay committed to learning and ensuring equitable birth support for all. That may mean that we are not the best fit for every client, and if that is the case, we are also committed to finding a better fit for that individual. Clients should feel confident that their Doula can provide the support their need, or like we stated above, find a Doula who can.

We strive that all content and support we provide is a representation of our global population. We know that Doulas are not only for the families we see in popular birth books, but that Doulas are for all families.

With love,
