Sinclair Summer Recap

Summer 2022

It was definitely a summer to remember for the Sinclairs! I may have overbooked it but we made lots of memories and I know I will never regret that! With the twins starting Kindergarten this fall, I knew I wanted to make the most of our time together! So here is The Sinclair Summer 2022 Recap!

Dance Recital & Competition in Wisconsin Dells

It was another successful year of dance at our favorite studio, DelMonico Dance! Like all the other years, this season ended with a recital so the kids could show off all their hard work, but we also got to experience Competitive Dance and ended the season with a trip to Wisconsin Dells for Nationals! McKenzie was so brave and her and her team did a fantastic job! We decided to also make a family trip of it and had 3 days of fun at the waterparks at Wilderness Resort. We have linked a blog post below for more information on our dance season and DelMonico Dance!

Muddy Dash

I completed my first Muddy Dash Run. It was fun but very hard since the course was in the hills of Taylors Falls! I love to set wellness goals and challenges to keep me on my toes! It’s also great for our kids to see their parents challenge themselves physically!

McKenzie turns Nine!

I can’t believe my McKenzie is 9 years old. We had so much fun celebrating her at our annual Pool Party! McKenzie LOVES animals, specifically dogs so we had a Pawty! Her age really hit me when a friend mentioned she is now half way to 18! Stop it! I’ve also linked some special blog posts I’ve written over the years on her birthdays. The days are long but the years sure are sort.

4th of July Celebrations

Aside from Halloween and Christmas, the 4th of July is my next favorite holiday! We always spend the weekend up at my parents summer place and they do a great job with hosting all of the activities! Here we are in the parade. The kids loved riding their bikes this year and it encouraged them to come home and take their training wheels off!

Cabin in Crosslake

This year we joined friends who rent a cabin every year up at Crosslake, MN. We had so much fun hanging with our friends, while the kids had fun hanging with their friends. Traveling with kids will always be hard but we are finally getting to the stage where it is just mostly fun! Thanks for hosting, Sandos!

How 2 Mom hosted a Golf Tournament

How 2 Mom officially has a Non-Profit.! Something I’ve been dreaming about for years. While sitting by a fire one night, my supportive husband talked me into just pulling the plug! So, we did it! We applied and started planning our first event, which was a huge success and is recapped in the blog post linked below. I’m so proud to say we raised thousands for the St. Jude Children’s Hospital!

Family Reunion

If you’re new here, you may not know this but I have a very blended, non-traditional family. My parents divorced when I was just a baby and both remarried when I was 6. That is not where the story ends. My father and his second wife eventually divorced as well in my adult years. Although they are no longer technically family, they still are in my heart. I grew up going to my step-grandparents cabin every other weekend in the summer. I grew up with these cousins and they were a big part of my childhood. So this summer, after 10+ years, a lot of forgiveness for all parties, and mended relationships, I visited the cabin and joined the Meissner crew for their family reunion. It was special for many different reasons, but the fact that I got to bring my kids and show them where mom spent a lot of her summers definitly took the cake. Here is a picture of all the cousins, minus one, together once again.

Adult Pool Party

We spend a lot of time in our backyard and in our pool with our kids, but last year started the tradition of one adult pool party every summer. It is a very different feeling when you don’t have to be constantly on and watching kids in water. We had fun, let loose and swam well into the night. Until next year, friends!

National Night Out

I grew up in a neighborhood that always hosted National Night Out. I was so sad to learn that the neighborhood we moved into 10 years ago doesn’t participate. Now that the neighborhood is filled with kids, and we have a little more freedom, we decided to host this year and bring the tradition back. When the police station showed up, they informed me that it had been 40+ years since this neighbor participated! Learn more below about this tradition and our event in the blog post linked below!

Girls Scrapbooking Weekend & Surprise 40th Birthday Party

I learned pretty quickly after becoming a mom just how important girlfriends and time away/mom breaks truly hard! Twice a year my girlfriends and I plan a weekend away (local), rent a house and spend our weekends scrapbooking (yes we really scrapbook), chatting, crying, eating, and being together! It is refreshing, productive, and helps me be a better mom and wife. This summer we had a special celebration because two of our girlfriends turned 40! We threw a surprise 80’s theme party!

Lindstrom Cabin

Right after our girl’s scrapbooking weekend, my girlfriend, Lindsey and I rented a cabin in Lindstrom, MN so that our 6 kids could spend some much needed time together. We all had a blast and spent the days in the sun, hiking, and enjoying dinners together.

MN State Fair

It is a MUST family tradition to spend a day at the MN State Fair for the Sinclairs. So much so that I wrote a whole blog post about this years trip and linked it below!

Kindergarten Prep Week & Back to School Shopping

I love that our local school hosted a Kindergarten Prep Week for the incoming Kindergartners to help them adjust and learn what to expect when school started. The twins were so excited and had so much fun! Back to school shopping was always a fun tradition that I looked forward to doing every year with my mom. So, we have continued that tradition with my kids and I am so thankful for that!

Carefree Golf Tournaments

I think it is no secret that my family loves golf! Before kids, Brian and I used to play multiple golf tournaments a year with my parents. This summer was the first time since having kids that we were able to participate again! Still no luck with finding a babysitter, but the kids are old enough now to know proper etiquette and love the game as well, so they came along for the ride. It was fun and we WON!

My parents summer home also hosted a Juniors Tournament for the kids which we look forward to every year. We act as their Caddy and they get the course all to themselves. I know it’s not about winning, but Brian and I were so proud when McKenzie tied for 1st place!

Other Summer Fun

In addition to all the events above, we also spent the summer on the soccer fields, at the golf range practicing, I got special alone time with Kenzie when the twins were at Kindergarten Prep, had a day at our favorite waterpark with one of our favorite families, hosted Lemonade Stand, spent hours in the pool with friends & family, spent a week at Art Camp, gambled on some horses at Canterbury and played at lots of parks.

We get 18 delicious summers with our children. This is one of your 18. If that's not perspective, I don't know what is.
