Transitioning from Stay at Home Mom to School-Aged Kids

"The days are long, but the years are short." -Gretchen Rubin

I’ve been a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) / WFHM (Work from Home Mom) for the last 7 years. My days have been filled with making memories with my 3 babies. When I became a mom 9.5 years ago, I was working out of the home 50+ hours a week, but my dream was to stay home with my babies. In 2015, I founded How 2 Mom and it gave me just that. The opportunity to stay home while also following my passion of helping other moms.

Motherhood has brought be to my knees so many times, mainly in moments of overwhelm or doubt, especially after we brought home the twins. I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I questioned if I was built to be a stay at home mom, and even wondered some days if I still wanted to stay home. But this year brought yet another huge parenting transition. I sent my babies to Kindergarten and now have 3 full time school aged kids. How did that happen!

Motherhood is always hard, the hard just constantly changes and as moms, we are in a constant state of change. Don’t get me wrong, the twins are ready and all of my kids love school. We are all excited for this next stage, but so much of my identity has been staying home and taking care of them.

After I allow myself some time to adjust to this huge transition, I am excited to have more time for myself, for my marriage, and for How 2 Mom. There is always something to mourn, but also so much to look forward to!
