From our first video call with Stephanie I was immediately drawn to her warm personality on top of her knowledge and knew she would be a perfect addition to our birth team.
Being first time parents, there were definitely a lot of unknowns around pregnancy and especially birth. After Stephanie’s first home visit with us I remember feeling so relieved! She had so much knowledge and experience it immediately put me at ease. By our second meeting with Stephanie, our son was breech and we were planning for a scheduled C-section. Stephanie, again, warmly eased our minds about the c section and helped us create a birth plan.
At the hospital, having Stephanie in the pre-op and operating room and making sure our birth and post-birth preferences were being honored was such a blessing and allowed my husband and I to be fully present all day. One preference we had was for immediate skin-to-skin. Not only did we get the immediate skin-to-skin but with Stephanie’s gentle support and guidance our son latched within minutes of being delivered-something I wasn’t sure was possible with a c section.
If it wasn't for Stephanie, I wouldn't have known that this was an option for us and was so thankful that she was there to encourage it.
Stephanie’s support didn’t end once our son was born. She stopped by the house when I was a few days postpartum to check-in and drop off our placenta pills (which she encapsulated) and again a week later to help with breastfeeding. She would text to check-in with us and she was the first person I’d text when I had questions about our son…I still do that to this day! Having her expertise in all things pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and baby has been truly amazing. If there is something she can’t do herself, she has an amazing network to direct to. Stephanie introduced us to our Chiropractor, Dr. Cassie, who we love and see regularly.
