I can't speak highly enough of Stephanie and the How2Mom team.
We were lucky enough to have both Stephanie and Nikki work with my husband and me through our pregnancy, birth and postpartum. They are both the most compassionate, dedicated, strong and informed women we could have asked for.
At our initial meeting, they both came to our house and talked with us regarding our wishes for our birth and more importantly our why’s. I wanted a natural birth with as little intervention as possible in a hospital setting. They gave us the typical ins and outs of birth at a hospital and the choices we would have to make along the way. They made sure we were completely informed and then let us make our own decisions and supported us 100% of the way.
They reminded us time and time again that this was OUR birth and OUR choice.
At my 38 week appointment I unfortunately had high blood pressure that led to an induction. The entire time we were at the hospital for monitoring they were only a text or phone call away, responding promptly answering all of our questions. As soon as the time came, they were there, by our side, coaching, motivating & reminding us of our why’s. After the induction started, I still wished to go unmedicated, which I couldn’t have done without their support. Many times hospital staff stated they wanted to start Pitocin and with her encouragement I stayed strong and refused. I was so unbelievably proud of myself when our healthy baby boy was born. One of the nurses came up to us after and said,
"You have restored my faith in natural birth"
I think that quote alone speaks for itself on how much Stephanie and Nikki impacted our birth.
After our son was born they made sure we were comfortable and felt safe before leaving the hospital, then lovingly checked in on us often. At our postpartum visit Stephanie brought me my placenta that I had encapsulated. She answered all of my first time mom questions and debriefed with us on how we felt about our birth. Over and over again she came to us with knowledge and insight in the most caring and comfortable way.
