We’re beyond excited to re-introduce Nikki, our new and sole partner of How2Mom!

As a DONA International Birth Doula, Nikki is passionate about guiding and empowering women through their birth experiences with evidence-based tools and compassionate care.

After experiencing two empowering water births with the help of her own doula, Nikki knew she had found her calling. Now, she’s bringing that same dedication and support to How2Mom, a small business built on heart and a deep belief in the power of women during one of life’s most transformative moments.

Nikki lives in the East Metro with her incredibly supportive husband, Nate, and their two brilliant daughters, Lola (14) and Vivienne (11), along with their lovable dog, Murphy. Outside of doula work, you’ll find her enjoying time with family and friends on their boat, cheering on her daughters at sports games, exploring new restaurants, cooking, reading, and catching live music.

For a bit of fun, we asked Nikki eight questions-some about her work as a doula and others just for fun! Keep reading to get to know her better.

What birth experiences have you had?

I had two successful, unmedicated water births with my daughters, Lola (14) and Vivienne (11) with the support and love of my doula!

How can you connect with clients uniquely?

I connect with clients on the rawness of parenthood and motherhood. When people meet me, you’ll hear me share stories and challenges of my own, I lean into vulnerability and know that it’s not easy for a lot of people, but creating a safe space for clients and their partners to be open during this experience is my ultimate goal. I don’t have it all figured out, I’m here with you, supporting you, taking care of you and helping you achieve the desired birth of your dreams, and I’m so honored to be on this amazing ride called parenthood with you. Let’s continue to grow and learn together!

What are some fun facts about you, your life, your family?

I love to cook and try new foods, ingredients, and restaurants, I considered entering culinary school years ago, food is definitely my love language.

My husband is a youth soccer coach, which I love because he can bring some of his coaching tactics into raising our kids, which sometimes is MUCH needed.

Our daughters both play sports, our oldest is a Libero (defensive specialist) in volleyball year round and our youngest is a goalkeeper for her traveling soccer team. We love watching them play, you can find me cheering loud on the sidelines.

I’m preparing to go through Yoga instructor training in January 2025. I’ve been dreaming of becoming a yoga teacher for as long as I’ve dreamt of being a doula, and as an avid Yoga student, I’m excited to bring the foundations of Yoga to our How2Mom clients and incorporate prenatal and Yoga with Baby into our offerings!

What's one thing would like to change about birth experiences in the US?

ACCESSIBILITY. If I could wave a magic wand and have birth/postpartum doula support available to every expecting family, I would. You can often hear us say things like “mother the mother”. There’s little focus on birthing moms, what they need emotionally, mentally and physically during pregnancy, during labor and postpartum and that’s a huge missing link in the way our country views birth. Hiring a doula shouldn’t only be for those who can afford it, it should be an automatic part of the birth team just like their provider.

What's the best advice you've been given about motherhood/birth?

A very intelligent woman told me recently that her circle of people are her, her husband and their kids. Every decision they make is about the safety and love of their circle, everyone else outside of that circle is important and holds a special place, but nothing compares to your circle of people, your family. Always put your circle first. Also, that intelligent woman is Stephanie Sinclair 🙂

What's something on your bucket list?

Travel to Europe, which might sound not that exciting or bucket list-ey, but I have an insane fear of flying, and I do it anyway, but have yet to fly overseas, although I dream about Mykonos, Amalfi Coast, Spain, and will continue to work to get there someday!

What's something on your doula bucket list?

A multiples birth for sure, I haven’t yet attended or supported a birth of multiples, but am certainly looking forward to it when it does happen.

Why did you choose How2Mom to invest in?

I believe in this work so much, I have wanted to do this work since the birth of my first daughter 14 years ago and to meet Stephanie through our kids school completely randomly, learn about the impeccable reputation she’s built for How2Mom for over 9 years, investing in How2Mom was a no brainer. I feel insanely lucky to be here with this business, to continue to help move the needle with Stephanie and our team, and grow to serve even more deserving families.

Want to go into birth and postpartum confident?

Research finds that moms who receive childbirth education have less fear and more confidence about the birth process and decrease their risk of unplanned C-sections, inductions, tearing! So what are you waiting for? Let us give you POWER in your birth.
